If you’re coming to one of our family theatre shows or family films – yes! Our doors open 1 hour before every family event for a free making activity which links to the performance you are about to enjoy. This is a great opportunity for children to explore different ways of making as well as something to take home from the day.
Pay What You Can means that you can donate any amount for your ticket. Whilst we do have ticket prices listed against all of our events – Pay What You Can tickets are available for all of our events, whether booking online or walking in. We do this so that everyone is able to attend and enjoy our events.
Regardless of what you pay to attend an event – we always recommend booking in advance online wherever possible.
We know we are a ‘first theatre’ trip for lots of children!
Horse + Bamboo takes a relaxed approach to noise and movement in our theatre. Our audience are free to come and go from the theatre space during a performance as they need to. Whilst our lights will dim – we do not do ‘complete black outs’ in our theatre – so that our seating bank, entrance and exit points in the theatre are always visible.
If your child is feeling scared during a performance, you can always leave to our quieter café space to continue crafting or playing until your feeling brave enough to go back in.
We put an age to our family performances as a guide but appreciate that many families have older or younger siblings and we welcome them to attend even if performance isn’t advertised for their age group (unless we have stated that the content is not suitable for a younger audience).
Should a performance coincide with time for prayers we are more than happy to provide a private room just before or just after the show. Please ask a member of the Horse + Bamboo team who will happily help.
In the majority of cases, whilst our evening events are aimed at adults – supervised children are welcome. We also welcome children & teenagers, accompanied by an adult, to take part in our Open Mic & Open Deck Nights on Friday evenings in our bar area. If an evening event or a film is not suitable for a younger audience due to content, we will state this online & in our brochure.
