Join puppeteer Thomas Byrne for a day long introduction to the wonderfully weird world of puppetry!

In this session, you’ll learn more about the upcoming Creative Futures Project and our plans for the next 3 years.  Find out how you’ll be able to get involved in festival production, sound and tech, curation, and exhibiting through a series of workshops, larger projects, and youth-led events.

The one-day workshop will allow participants to learn more about puppetry as an artform before providing them with training on how to begin to manipulate puppets.  Using simple, easy to access materials such as newspaper and brown paper Tom will teach and showcase the core principles of puppetry movement, manipulation, and direction.  Once participants have got to grips with the basics they will explore how puppets can be created from cardboard and spend the afternoon letting their creativity run wild bringing bizarre cardboard creations to life!

A playful, practical introduction to puppetry and a chance to explore a completely different form of creative expression. No experience necessary, just bring your imagination.

All materials provided. For ages 11–18.

This project is supported by Pride in Place Funding in partnership with Rossendale Borough Council and Our Towns Plan.
