Film Club presents Sisters with Transistors (PG) + Mini-Oramics Machine Workshop
Film Club presents a special screening of Sisters with Transistors (PG) accompanied with a rare public appearance of legendary Mini-Oramics Machine.
Workshop & Talk
The original Oramics machine was created by composer Daphne Oram in the mid 1960s, a synthesiser designed to read graphic scores. Oram also began work on a smaller offshoot she later dubbed ‘Mini Oramics’, a more portable device that might have had genuine commercial potential as a product for electronic musicians. Sadly, she had to abandon the project, but as part of his PhD at Goldsmiths University Tom Richards decided to explore the potential for resurrecting Mini Oramics.
Tom joins us at Horse + Bamboo for a talk / demo / Q&A as part of this October film club special!
Followed by Sisters with Transistors (PG)

“a long overdue tribute to the women that broke barriers in music, technology, and society as a whole. This is not a retrospective, it’s a new beginning.” – Owen Richards, The Art Des
