An evening of puppet noise and nonsense!
Noise Spells & Puppet Visions is a ritual of transformation, an ephemeral collision of puppetry and noise.
Part of a limited tour including Newcastle Puppetry Festival and Sheffield venue Gut Level, this performance invites you into the subconscious dreams of puppets—a shifting reality where sound and matter dissolve.
Bristol-based collectives Beanpig Puppets and Liquid Library conjure a world where puppets emerge from forgotten materials, shifting and mutating to tell their intricate story.
Beanpig Puppetry is a puppetry collective that believes in the life of all things. They explore the possibility of other worlds—constantly transforming, destroying, and creating. They believe that anything can come to life, anything can transform, and anything is possible if it’s made out of cardboard and old curtains.
Liquid Library is a queer music and DIY arts collective—a multi-headed creature of noise, light, and colour. With an ever-shifting membership, they strive to find the sweet spot between the sacred and the ridiculous.
Live music by Carnivorous Plants and Zero Gravity Tea Ceremony drifts between deep drone and harsh noise, with the puppets themselves amplifying and distorting the sonic landscape through contact mics. The sacred and the absurd entwine, unraveling a dreamlike, shape-shifting performance at the edge of perception.
This is a spell cast in sound and motion, a fleeting act of metamorphosis.
