Creative Development Director
Esther has been with Horse + Bamboo for over 15 years, starting out as Company Administrator in 2007 then becoming Producer and later Executive Director. She now leads on development of many of our creative projects including the Creation Centre, Baby Boo and Making a Change.

Executive Producer
Jenn joined Horse + Bamboo in 2017 as Venue Manager and became our full-time Executive Producer in 2021. She programmes H+B’s venue & festival, Waterfoot Wakes and generally keeps us running smoothly! When not in Horse + Bamboo, Jenn is a badminton player, often at live music festivals & always planning the next trip to Japan.

Finance and Operations Manager
Hannah joined in 2024 and has a background in Grants Management, monitoring budgets for small and largescale projects and taking care of heritage buildings.
Hannah’s role is to keep things running smoothly in the background and the foreground when it comes to tech, maintenance and Operations.
Hannah is always happy spending time in the Theatre – runs her own small Theatre company, loves singing, painting and taking risks with shoddily made ceramics in the Kiln.

Marketing & Community Engagement Officer
Hina has been part of the marketing team at Horse + Bamboo since 2016 and became our Marketing and Community Engagement officer in 2022. She runs our social media channels, and you can find her with a camera on most of our events capturing the moments! Hina likes to bring different communities together and facilitates their visit to Horse + Bamboo.
When not in Horse + Bamboo, Hina is involved in lots of community projects around Rossendale. She is also one of our Associate Artists and a Storyteller. She brings beautiful cultural stories to family audiences.

Lew first started at Horse + Bamboo on Work Experience during his Sixth Form studies in 2016. Horse +Bamboo has been a focal point in his studies, from post-16 to his Masters Degree at The University of Manchester. Lew returned to volunteer regularly in 2018 – and from then on, joined our staff team. In 2024, he began serving as Business Development Officer, writing and researching relevant funding opportunities as well as new strategic opportunities for income generation. Lew also looks after private hire enquiries and helps manage the organisation’s diary. Outside of work, he likes performing as an actor, collecting bandanas and a head-bang to rock music records!

Sue Auty
Director of Baby Boo
Sue Auty is our director of Baby Boo. With a background is in performance, Sue has been making visual theatre for family audiences in outdoor or unusual situations for 40 years, as co-artistic director of Whalley Range All Stars. She loves playing with materials and objects to find the theatrical possibilities, and is very excited to be able to shape the Early Years programme at Horse and Bamboo and be an active partner in developing Early Years network connections across the North West. The future is bubbling with lots of new projects!

Alastair Price
Director of Making A Change
Alastair began working with Horse + Bamboo in 2016. For the last few years he has been Director of ‘Making a Change’, a creative project for prisoners and their families. He’s also an artist, maker and performer. He runs our Waterfoot Wakes parade making workshops, and dresses up and makes music with Cacophany Arkestra.
Duty Manager & Arts Award Lead
Sarah started working at Horse + Bamboo in 2018, and is involved within various aspects of work at Horse + Bamboo, including bar management, Arts Award and Craft Workshops. She has many years of experience working with young people, teaching circus skills and running after schools clubs. She loves a wide variety of music and arts, and her hobbies, including drumming and jewellery making.
Duty Manager
Laura has been working with Horse + Bamboo since 2021, and is most often on the box office or on the bar at our events. She also organises our biannual Art Market event and This Here festival in Bacup. Outside of work she always busy up-cycling furniture in her workshop or travelling to different festivals in her converted van!
Artist & Craft Technician
Andy is our expert in-house crafter. If you come to our family programme, you’ll most likely know Andy and his amazing craft creations! In addition to family crafts, Andy is a skilled animator and supports various workshop delivery including Waterfoot Wakes making & Arts Award.
Luke Moffat
Tech Officer, Marketing & FoH
Luke started with Horse + Bamboo on work experience back in 2019 and has been with the company ever since! Luke has also worked at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival and a performing arts summer camp, in his spare time, giving him experience for looking after and managing our venue technical systems. Whilst also operating the theatres socials and occasionally pouring a pint. When he’s not in work Luke loves attending concerts, travelling the world and imagining what his life would be like if he ran away to live in Disney world!

Bar Manager & Technician
Sarah joined the team at the beginning of 2023 working behind the bar for our events evenings. She is a singer songwriter and is looking forward to being involved in events here at Horse + Bamboo. As well as a love of music, Sarah enjoys a wide variety of arts and crafts as well as long walks and photography.
